Celebrating the life of

Jeanne Davenport Haynes

May 15, 1928 - April 14, 2015

Jeanne Davenport Haynes

Jeanne Davenport Haynes, 86, went peacefully to be with loved ones in heaven on April 14, 2015.  Jeanne was a true southern lady and will be greatly missed by her family and so many others. Jeanne was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her family was above all so special to her.  Everyday was devoted to her family as a homemaker and cook. She was an active member of her beloved Isle of Hope Methodist Church, where she was involved in the 'In As Much Circle', labeling in the church office and the 'Sparklers' group. She also was active in the Parkersburg Garden Club, volunteered at the Botanical gardens and member of the Republican Women's Club. Jeanne was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan where she attended college. She looked forward to game days and spending them with her family.  Jeanne was a shining example of the Greatest Generation, who unselfishly sacrificed themselves to support family throughout the difficult years of WWII and Korea.

Jeanne was born May 15, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Georgia (Walker County) to Eddie Mae and Alton Davenport and grew up in Harlem Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia majoring in Home Economics. She was predeceased by her loving husband WN Haynes (Hank), her parents and her brother Edward Alton Davenport (Betty). Jeanne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Janet Mercer Sessoms, sons Thomas Emory Haynes and James Rogers Haynes (Sarah); Grandchildren Christopher Franklin Mercer (Kathryn), Laura Mercer Rodriguez (Randy), Alexander Newman Haynes (Alison), Annsley Caroline Haynes (Bo), Alexander James Cole Haynes and five great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Fox & Weeks Hodgson Memorial Chapel from 5:00 to7:00 pm.  The celebration of Jeanne's long and beautiful life will be held at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a private burial.

Remembrances may be sent to Isle of Hope United Methodist Church or Hospice Savannah on Eisenhower Drive. A special appreciation is extended by the family to Mike and Angela Phillips, Hospice Nurses Dawn, Quansetta and Maria, Dr. Guy J. Petruzzelli and Dr. Joshua T. McKenzie for their loyal and loving care.

GUEST BOOK

My deepest condolence to the Haynes family for the loss of your dear loved one. During this most difficult time, may your hearts be comforted by Jehovah God's promise to wipe out every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more(Rev. 21:4). Also during the days to come, may Mrs. Haynes' sweet memories fill your hearts with joy and peace.

- Thomas, Snellville, Ga.

Jimmy - I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Though I never met her, I don't have to have met her to know she was a remarkable woman given that she raised you. I lost my mother three weeks ago and it's sad to watch the Greatest Generation go. I'm thinking of you and your family. Kaye Courington

Janet, I don't know how to get in touch with you, but I want to tell you I am so sorry to read about your mom's passing. Even though I have been gone from Isle of Hope for a good while, I remember her for her kindness and serenity.
